This hotel used to be the Best Western, which is why you may be confused when looking on the web and wondering why you see it, and then you don’t. I am happy to report that this is a hotel that is getting consistently good to high reviews. It is basic, the bathrooms are small, the rooms may not be as big as you hoped, but the grounds are lovely, the courtyard is tropical and gives privacy, the rooms are well kept and clean, the staff are friendly and the location is great. Yes, a few people had some negative experiences, but this is the first time I’ve seen a hotel with so many high ratings at this beach.
Accommodations: Children and teens under 18 stay free if accompanied by an adult. Check in not earlier than 4 pm, and check-out not later than 11 am. There are various room types to choose from but the beachfront efficiencies would be the top pick over the beachfront rooms, simply because the beachfront rooms, though leading to a balcony or patio, do not have a kitchen, though they have included a fridge in the rooms which is helpful. If you don’t want to be lulled by the live music at the beach bar, ask for a room away from the outside bar. Be specific about what you are hoping to avoid. Someone asked for a pool side room and did not hear the music at all from there.
Amenities: wireless high speed internet throughout the hotel. Business center in the lobby open every day with long hours of availability. There is a price so I’m not sure if that means having to use a credit card each time you want to use the internet on the computer in the business center, or if you pay at the desk. In-room safes are available for your convenience. The pool looks nice, with gardening efforts paying off in the way they surround the pool and provide privacy. There are two pools, six acres of resort property, and the beach to walk on as far as you so choose, which is probably why you came to St. Pete Beach anyway. Keep your parking pass visible, because many visitors other than hotel clientele come for the live bands at night, and staff have to check who is parking in their lot. There is only one parking lot per customer/family, so you cannot plan to park two vehicles here.
Beach bar on the beach, with music playing nightly.
Players Sports Bar with a 10 foot wide tv screen, to enjoy the ball game.
Rates: this site is confusing, at least to me. First they name an overly priced cost, with the next column listing the internet booking cost which has dropped to about one third of the price, and then the regular price, which is even lower then internet booking. That in itself is different, because normally you get a lower price when you book on the internet. This was under the Red Hot Deals tab. I have a difficult time believing they were normally charging up to 369.00 for one night at this place. If you take a look at the rooms you’ll see what I mean. They are fine, but they are basic and if you’re like me, you automatically feel like your intelligence is being insulted by the regular hotel rate. So instead of paying 299.99 per night for a certain room, they are giving it away for 67.00 per night. That is a huge difference, but I would not be paying about 300.00 or more per night for one of these rooms or suites anyway. After my astute observation however, I did read that the 300.00 rate was actually in effect, and our intelligence wasn’t being tested, and that people did pay that much when taking the full rate at times. So it can be as much as it says. I would say when testing out a hotel like this that is not a beauty like the Don Cesar and yet can cost more, try it for the cut rate and see what you think.
This is the only hotel I’ve found so far on St Pete beach that has an operator available every day, 24 hours per day, except for the Don Cesar.
Location: 6200 Gulf Boulevard, St Pete Beach.
