I’m not sure what to tell you about the reputation on this motel. It seems there is a loyalty club here for those who have known the owners since they were on the bottle – baby bottle that is.
I understand loyalty, having a favorite one myself based on childhood experiences and memories, with a few good aspects thrown in for comfort.
The reviews that are good sound uncannily the same,-same style of writing, same types of tour guide talk, and then suddenly horrible reviews thrown in. There are some realistic reviews and guests disappointed about the size of the room or apartment. I had to search further to get a better variation on travel reviews from different sites. Some people come back every year, and some prefer going elsewhere for sure.
One thing we do know, there is a bar next door, and motorcycles with their owners of course, inhabit the bar at some point during the day or evening. If you are immune to noise, having come from NYC perhaps, then this doesn’t necessarily bother you. If you have come to St Pete Beach to get away from the noise, this may be grating on your nerves the entire trip.
The rates are fabulous on this motel for the summer, and they have WiFi internet now, so that is different compared to most other accommodations on this stretch of beach, unless you are staying at the Don Cesar, which probably has everything you could want. Check archives on this site to read about that monstrous pink hotel. However, I digress.
The Palm Crest Motel has been taken care of by the family for several decades. The owner is often referred to in the reviews. The pool looks about like any other pool except for the Don and a few others I’ve written about. The motel is right on the beach. It looks different – more of a Swiss Chalet type building which is a welcome change after some that were built in the same style as a zillion others on the beach for the last 40 years.
Do not expect maid service on Sundays and holidays. I write this because this is the first time I have seen this, but at least they put it on the site, so you will not be surprised. The pool is heated, there are laundry facilities and a barbeque. Ask about air condition for your own sake. Self-regulated thermostats (you control them) may mean heat and fan, but do they also mean air condition? There are televisions but it appears no phones again for this motel.
Rates: this summer with low season starting May 1 to September 8, the rates for a Gulf Front Studio Apartment is 98.00 to 108 per night, with kitchen. During Easter break you are looking at 122.00 to 142.00 for the same apartment. They do not charge for a cot or crib, which is nice of them.
Palm Crest Motel is located on 3848 Gulf Boulevard, St Pete Beach. Phone is 1-888-558-1247.
