Plaza Beach Hotel

I have not covered this hotel yet, because my first impression had been from all the funky designs on the front of the building, that I should look for others first. Howsoever, it seems that this is a pretty popular holiday spot and you can’t necessarily judge a cover by its carefree use of the paintbrush, or by bedspreads. Not only that, this place has fantastic ratings by guests. People love this place and I’m afraid I’ve neglected to note this beach hotel when it should have been one of the first to be noticed.

The Plaza Beach Resort is on Gulf Boulevard on St Pete Beach and is part of three hotels all owned by one family. This means you can share the amenities between the three, a good thing since the pool was being renovated at this hotel, yet you can have access to the other two just steps away. That renovation by the way should be complete quite soon.

The Plaza, as we’ll call it, has several kinds of accommodations. There are deluxe efficiencies, superior gulf view rooms, gulf front with balcony and a suite. The suite is used more by families and this one bedroom large apartment has several sleeping options.  Check out their video tour on their site. They have some lovely photos of the scenery but little about the rooms. The rooms have kitchenettes and the usual casual style comparable to other laid back hotels on this beach. The rates are higher than some for sure. You can pay anywhere from 98.00 to 209.00 depending on the time for a deluxe efficiency, their cheapest room. For the Gulf Front with Balcony, you can pay anywhere from 129.00 to 259.00.  I find that drastic jump in price glaringly huge.

Amenities: In sharing three hotels and its services, you can have access to the following:

A private beach spot, three pools (one under renovation), two large fishing piers and rods to use gratis, three barbeque sites, wireless internet and an internet cafe, (three computers in reception area, and another two in an area with a library, coffee and other diversions,   miniature golf, three laundry facilities, free parking for one vehicle per room, a fitness centre, a dock for your boat, and free beach cabanas and loungers, not to mention the shuffleboard and more. You can see why families enjoy this. It is right on the beach, you can walk to the Dolphin Village Shopping Centre where you can pick up your groceries at Publix. You can stroll to restaurants if you prefer. Apparently your laptop will pick up the wireless internet right at the beach while you enjoy the sun while lounging on your chairs courtesy of the hotel. If you want a good restaurant for burgers, try the Burgers in Paradise restaurant close by.

Ratings: Good, great and wonderful. People find this place very clean, the staff excellent and friendly, the atmosphere so relaxing. What more could you ask for in a beach front holiday in Florida.

Address: 4506 Gulf Boulevard.
